Ignorance as an Object and Issue of Research in the Humanitoes and the Social Sciences
Location: Maison de la recherche SHS Annie Ernaux, Cergy
International seminar coordinated by Yann Giraud from AGORA research center.
As a follow-up to the workshop organized by AGORA and IDHN in October 2024, « Positionnementsface au sensible : construire, restituer et didactiser sa recherche », and in view of the upcoming launch of Axis 1 (Science and Society) of the future MSH, this study day aims to foster a collective and interdisciplinary reflection on ignorance in research within the humanities and social sciences. The goal is to explore the role ignorance plays and the issues it raises both in research topics and fields (e.g., in connection with disinformation and digital literacy), as well as within the research process itself (e.g., “expert” knowledge versus situated knowledge) and in its dissemination within civil society. The interests, reflections, and cross-cutting issues that will emerge from this event are intended to be further developed in subsequent work.
