Humor and AI: understanding, analysis, modeling, generation

Location: Maison de la Recherche SHS CY Cergy Paris Université 33 boulevard du Port 95011 Cergy-Pontoise Cedex France

Symposium coordinated by Marine Delaborde from LT2D research center.

Humor is a multimodal phenomenon in which visual and/or auditory dimensions can contribute to the creation of a humorous effect. Because it relies on discrepancies, implicit meanings, or ambiguities, humor is a complex linguistic phenomenon that poses challenges for natural language processing. It can also develop in nonverbal ways: through images or physical performances. Humor is also a phenomenon rooted in different social contexts. For AI models, these multiple contexts pose challenges in understanding humor, analyzing it, modeling it, and generating it automatically. This event will be a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary exchanges on humor and artificial intelligence.
