(De)fragilisation of discourses

Discours
Discours

Coordinated by Manon Pengam and Axel Boursier, LT2D

The interest in fragile discourse stems from a number of factors that crystallise in the idea of an economy of speech that has been modified by the arrival of the SNS. While they have enabled the democratisation of speech, they have also generated a problem of listening. Who can still hear what is being said? Faced with the information problems identified in the latest Reuters report (disinformation, information fatigue, etc.), the stability of discourse seems to be being called into question. This questioning affects discourse on two criteria: 1/ its ability to generate a listening audience (visibility), 2/ its legitimacy (see pragmatic sociology and the controversy over the increasing generality and resingulatisation of speech). Continuing the work begun at LT2D two years ago, this symposium aims to bring together researchers working on processes whereby so-called hegemonic discourses are challenged or contested and replaced by other forms of discourse. Several issues will be on the agenda: the dynamics of the weakening of hegemonic discourses, the dynamics in the public arena as a whole, and discourses weakened by argumentation.
