4th Youth Literature Biennial: Children's literature and transmedia cultures: creation, reception and mediation

Venue: CY Cergy Paris Université, Gennevilliers

International conference co-organised by Virginie Tellier and Sonia Castagnet-Caignec, CY EMA laboratory and by Textes et Cultures center of université d'Artois.

The 4th Biennial for Children's Literature aims to explore the intermedia and multi-media dimensions of works aimed at children, teenagers and young adults in their circularity from one medium to another (book, audio-visual, video game, role-playing game, etc.), a cultural phenomenon of the ultra-contemporary. This scientific event will consider the aspects of creation, reception and mediation, and will bring together authors, professionals involved in book mediation (in and out of school), and researchers in literature, information science and education. In a context where fictional universes are being exploited more and more, the aim of the 4th Biennial is to understand what is at stake in the way cultural objects are consumed today. The triptych of creation, reception and mediation makes it possible to bring together, around the issue of transmedia, the various players in the book chain, each of whom is participating at his or her own level in this far-reaching and mass movement, and thus to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms involved, as well as to open up the prospects offered by transmedia cultures for readers.
