How communication and coding theory can advance molecular storage and computing
Olgica Milenkovic is the Franklin W. Woeltge professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), and Research Professor at the Coordinated Science Laboratory.
We provide a gentle introduction to the emerging field of molecular storage, with an emphasis on DNA-based platforms. Our review will include topics such as random access, extensions of the molecular alphabet and the use of machine learning methods in the user-data reconstruction process. Special emphasis will be placed on highlighting ideas from communication and coding theory that have impacted important features of the technologies, such as random access, portability, and robustness.
Date: 28 November 2023 from 14:00 to 15:30
The hybrid guest lecture is organised in person at the H101 meeting room of MIR in Neuville-sur-Oise and remotely on Zoom.
