Queer People under the Franco's Dictatorship
Venue: Collège d’Espagne – Cité universitaire, Paris
International conference, coordinated by Geoffroy Huard, CY HERITAGES
This symposium aims to bring together for the first time all the researchers who work on the recovery of the LGBT victims’s memory of the civil war and the Franco’s dictatorship from the judicial archives which are gradually opening up in Spain.
For several years, researchers have been working individually on the Catalan archives, others have managed to access the archives of Madrid, the Basque Country, the Canary Islands, Andalusia, etc. But today is the first time that all the researchers have come together to analyze the particularities of the repressive mechanisms in the different regions of the Spanish state, but also to study the construction of subjectivities and the cultural manifestations of LGBT people.
This symposium is also a collective book which will soon be released in Spain by Marcial Pons editions under the title: Las locas en el archivo. Disidencia sexual bajo el franquismo.
