Le Traître en Politique : profils, parcours et représentations

This conference was held at a distance (ZOOM).

This conference day aims at studying various historical periods of time, in order to broaden and interrogate the perception of the “traitor” in politics, from classical Antiquity to nowadays. Which role does the “traitor” play in the political field? When and how our leaders can use treason? Are they all supposed to betray or to be betrayed? Is treason a deliberated choice or can it be a “way through spite” to reach a political goal? How does someone come to be considered as a traitor by their peers?

These intemporal interrogations, from Antic Athens to contemporary political fields, are even more interesting, given that they seem to resurge among the latest news in Europe. But the traitor is not specific to our continent, that is why this study aims at opening the problematics to all continents, periods of time and areas of study.
