Since 1994, Ellen Saada (CNRS, Mathematics, Université de Paris) and myself (François Dunlop, Pr. emeritus, CYU), organize the ``Inhomogeneous Random Systems'' workshop, gathering mathematicians and physicists every year during two days at the end of january. Its 27 years of success make it a must for both communities. Since 1997, each of the two days is devoted to a specific theme, under the impulse of a moderator. In particulier, W. Werner, Fields medal 2006, was moderator in january 2006; C. Villani, Fields medal 2010, was invited speaker in 2001; S. Smirnov, Fields medal 2010 was invited speaker in 2006 and 2010; M. Hairer, Fields medal 2014 was invited speaker in 2007. B. Derrida, Boltzmann medal 2010 and professor at Collège de France, has been moderator or speaker on several occasions.
2021 themes and moderators are:
- Structure and function of complex networks: epidemics and optimization. Moderator: Remco van der Hofstad (Eindhoven)
- Statistical Physics of Active Matter. Moderator: Julien Tailleur (Paris)"
