Call to projects 2019: Fellowships in Residence Program @ Paris Seine Institute for Advanced Studies

Call for projects allowing the invitation of researchers to the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) for periods of 4 months to one year in order to develop the internationalization of research within the Paris Seine Initiative of Excellence (PSI).

Applications accepted until March 5, 2019, 1:00 p.m.

Objectives of the call for projects

Institutional framework

As part of the Paris Seine Initiative of Excellence (PSI), a third call for projects has been launched to promote the development of research and its internationalization.

The Paris Seine Initiative of Excellence is supported by four institutions: the University of Cergy-Pontoise, ESSEC, EISTI and ENSEA. It has an annual budget of €7.4 million. One of the central challenges of the initiative of excellence is to strengthen the scientific potential, visibility and international attractiveness and the excellence of the research of the partner institutions.

Ambition

The Fellowships in Residence Program of the Institut d'Etudes Avancées Paris Seine (PSI-IAS) is an invitation program for foreign researchers. Through the hosting of high-level researchers, both juniors and seniors, for a period of 4 months to one year, this program aims to develop the internationalization of research and international scientific collaborations within PSI and to strengthen the attractiveness of partner institutions.

Description of the programme

The PSI-IAS program consists of hosting a dozen researchers in residence during the 2019-2020 academic year. Researchers of all nationalities are eligible. Researchers who have stayed in France for a total of more than 12 months in the three years preceding this call are not eligible.

Researchers are invited for stays of between 4 months and one year. The Fellows in Residence benefit from a double attachment:

  • At the Institut d'Etudes Avancées, where they participate in the activities of transverse scientific animation: Fellows Seminar and guest lectures, participation in scientific events organized within the framework of the IAS and the possibility of organizing events at the initiative of the Fellows, in connection with the researchers of Paris Seine.
  • In one of the departments or research centers of the institutions of the Paris Seine initiative.

All themes are eligible. Fellows are expected to develop a research program related to the research activities of the Paris Seine teams. The scientific quality of the research project will be taken into account in the evaluation of applications.

Two types of fellowships will be proposed :

  • Junior Fellowships: for researchers between 2 and 9 years after obtaining their PhD, with or without a permanent position in a university or research institute. Junior fellowships are offered for one year and can be renewed for an additional year.
  • Senior fellowships: for researchers with more than 10 years after obtaining their PhD. Senior fellowships are granted for a period of 4 to 10 months.
