Developement of a fluid Gel based on Curcumin-loaded Nanostructured Lipid Carriers for skin care
The aim of this collaboration is to develop a new pharmaceutical formulation with properties to ensure topical balance and promote wound healing. Our sophisticated system is based on a fluid hydrogel containing NLCs (Nanostructured Lipid Carriers) as a delivery system and curcumin as a bioactive compound. Acutely physicochemical and rheological characterisations have been already done. As a part of the research project, biological in vitro evaluation as well as further in vitro and ex-vivo pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies are envisaged. Furthermore, microbiotic and transcriptomic approaches should be suitable for achieving a global comprehension of our nanosystem. Thus, Analysis of microbial abundance and viability is planned to be carried out as well as the analysis of the structure of biofilms. Quantification of the key genes interfering in the healing phenomenon by a quantitative PCR methodology is also envisaged to complete the formulation characterisation
