Workshop in Gender and Family Economics

Venue: CY Cergy Paris Université, Amphitheather Simone Veil, Chênes I, Cergy

International workshop coordinated by Stéfania Marcassa et Lisa Collin, CY THEMA

The short term scientific objective of the event is the meeting and the exchange of ideas between researchers working in family economics and gender economics, a field which is particularly promising in view of the extent of gender inequalities that are currently identified and the emphasis placed on these issues in public policies (particularly those concerning the University).
It is also a question of making CY Cergy University and Thema better known as a reference research center in family economics and gender economics in France and in Europe.
The medium and long-term objective is to create collaborations at national and international level, bringing together researchers (mainly based in Europe) working on these same themes. These collaborations may take the form of co-writing research articles, but also the possibility of visiting (both for researchers, post-docs, doctoral students) and thesis supervision under joint supervision.
The format of the workshop is particularly conducive to discussion. Indeed, the size of the event is relatively small (about 50 people), which facilitates exchanges. The interventions will be quite long, which allows the presenters to develop their remarks and the public to understand in depth the projects presented. They will be followed by presentations by rapporteurs, which will be useful to the presenters and the public, also allowing them to go deeper into the question.
The invitation of high-level keynote-speakers in the field has the aim of training public researchers, who will come from different universities of Ile-de-France region, including of course CY Cergy University.
The exchanges that will follow the presentations, during breaks, will be an opportunity to reflect on common projects, including researchers whose level of publication is very high, which could help CY Cergy University achieve its objective of to be in the top 200 research institutions in the world.
The organization of a face-to-face workshop is also a logical follow-up to the implementation of the Gender and Family Economics Webinar, which was supported by the organizers and has now been in place for a year and a half. It is a success: the presentation dates are full until the end of this year, and many people are connecting to each session.
