Research project

Experimental and numerical study of the high temperature behavior of basalt concrete

This research work is part of the improvement of the thermal stability of concrete in buildings. Determining the required concrete thicknesses as well as identifying the risk of cracking or spalling from exposure to high temperature requires an understanding of the high temperature behavior of concrete. In fact, although concrete is known to be a building material with good heat resistance, under certain conditions there is a risk of bursting when exposed to high temperature. After fire, concrete must have sufficient mechanical properties to continue to ensure the mechanical stability of the structure. In addition to the behavior at high temperature, we will study the behavior of concrete after heating and cooling
