Fluorine in life sciences: the surprise guest
Thierry Brigaud est Professeur en Chimie Organique et Directeur Adjoint de l'Unité BioCIS (UMR-CNRS-8076) auprès de CY Cergy-Paris Université.
Although fluorine is the 13th most common element in the earth’s crust it is virtually absent from the biosphere. Thus, nothing destined fluorinated compounds to become major players in medicinal chemistry for the last thirty years. To explain this paradox will be presented in this seminar, a state of the art of recent developments in the rational design of fluorinated compounds for pharmaceutical use but also as a tool for imaging, diagnosis and investigation of biological processes. The specific synthetic methods for the incorporation of fluorine atoms will be briefly and synthetically presented. The new directions and perspectives offered by the recent introduction of fluorinated compounds in the field of biomedical applications of peptides will also be outlined.
Date : 30 novembre 2021 de 12h30 à 14h00
La guest lecture hybride est organisée en présence à l'Auditorium de la MIR à Neuville-sur-Oise et à distance sur Zoom.
