Recherche en Groupe : Chambris, Visnovska et Venkatakrishnan

Rencontre coordonnée par Christine Chambris du laboratoire LDAR avec la participation de Jana Visnovska (The University of Queensland, Australia) et Hamsa Venkatakrishnan (Dublin City University, Ireland).

Séjour du 3 au 5 septembre 2025.

This is a continuation of the work that started in July 2024 as part of ICME-15 Discussion Group on Building intuitions about quantities. The research aims include (a) understanding of the role that students’ intuitions about—and reasoning with—quantities play in early number development, and (b) developing the means by which such intuitions and reasoning could be proactively supported in classrooms.
The three researchers involved each have a program of research related to number teaching and learning, and have been exchanging reading suggestions as part of developing a shared research literature base for this collaborative work (e.g., Freudenthal, Sfard, Nunes, Sinclair). During the 3-day meeting supported by this programme, we aim to compare our research perspectives, collate the illustrative examples from our existing research, develop a coordinated plan for further empirical studies across our settings, and advance the research ideas through co-writing of publications.
