New Tools for N-Heterocycle Synthesis and Molecular Engineering of Materials for Energy Storage

Natthawat Semakul, lecturer in chemistry at Chiang Mai university, is currently fellow-in-residence at CY AS, invited by laboratory LPPI

Nitrogen-containing heterocycles are present in an array of natural products and small molecule drugs. Therefore, developing expedient methods for accessing nitrogen-heterocycles from readily available precursors is a top priority. In this context, developing reactions feedstock chemicals such as acrylamide and alkene to provide useful N-heterocycles will be described. Additionally, the ability to control the selectivity of product formation by the modulation of cyclopentadienyl architecture on Rh(III) metal center will be discussed.
Batteries based on earth-abundant elements (C, H, O, N) are being investigated as more sustainable alternatives to conventional materials. In this regard, designing and developing organic-based electrode materials with a good specific capacity, rate capability, and cycling stability is highly desirable. In the second part of the seminar, recent efforts on the utilization of porous organic polymer for the anode in Li-organic battery as well as the idea of bi-redox polymers for the all-organic batteries will be described.

Date : 5 April 2022 from 12:30 to 14:00

The hybrid guest lecture is organised in person at the H-008 meeting room of MIR in Neuville-sur-Oise and remotely on Zoom.
