The interplay of complex and coherent dynamics in brain function

Venue: La Maison Internationale de la Recherche, Neuville-sur-Oise

International workshop, coordinated by Alessandro Torcini, CY LPTM

This international workshop is the final act of the ANR Project Exact Reduction of Multiscale Neural Dynamics – ERMUNDY coordinated by A. Torcini involving CY Cergy Paris Université, École Normale Supérieure in Paris and Institut de Neurosciences des Systèmes in Marseille. Its aim is on one side to present the results obtained during the ANR project to the scientific community and on the other side to bring top scientists at CY Advanced Studies. We would like to bring in Neuville-sur-Oise scientists working in different disciplines ranging from applied mathematics to neuroscience, from physics to biology in order to address a topic of general interest as the emergence of complex and coherent dynamics in the brain. In particular, we would like to discuss the relevance of next generation neural mass models, developed within the ERMUNDY project, for the interpretation of neural function probed by macroscopic measurements, as Local Field Potential s,
EEG, FMRI etc, as well as exchange ideas on the development of possible future experiments based on our
theoretical results and of improvements of the models. This workshop can represent a first step to develop
new projects on neuroscience in the contex t of French and/or European networks having CY Cergy Paris
Université as a pivotal node.
