4th Workshop on Gender Issues and Development

The Gender Issues and Development Workshop aims to bring together researchers working at the intersection of gender economics and development economics around major contemporary challenges, including employment, income, inequalities in access to health and education, violence, gender norms, and public policy. Its primary objective is to foster high-level scientific exchange among scholars from the Global North and Global South, while consolidating an international research network in this field. The workshop also contributes to strengthening the visibility of the partner institutions as key hubs for research on gender and development, in France and abroad. In the longer term, the event is designed to stimulate sustainable national and international collaborations, particularly between researchers based in Europe, Africa, and the MENA region. These collaborations may lead to joint publications, research visits, and co-supervision of doctoral students. The format of the workshop is specifically designed to maximize discussion and training opportunities. With around 50 participants, extended presentations, keynote lectures, and formal discussions led by invited discussants, the event provides a highly interactive environment, particularly valuable for early-career researchers and doctoral students. This fourth edition builds on a successful and expanding series launched in 2023, which has already attracted around 100 submissions per edition, confirming the workshop’s growing reputation as an international forum for high-quality research on gender and development.
